Brewing with history Alaska has a rich history of brewing. From the explorers of the 1700s through the Gold Rush, many a thirsty Alaskan has been able to enjoy locally made beers. In 1986, 28-year-olds Marcy and Geoff Larson reignited that tradition when they opened the Alaskan Brewing Company, the 67th brewery in the country and the first brewery in Juneau since Prohibition. Alaskan beers reflect many of the same characteristics of beers that were brewed here during the gold rush era. From the historically based Alaskan Amber recipe to alder-smoked malts and Sitka spruce tips, Alaskan beers reflect Juneau's local brewing history and innovation.

In 2000, Nico Freccia and Shaun O’Sullivan founded the 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco’s historic South Park neighborhood. The popular brewpub is now at the heart of the new city center, just south of the financial district and only two blocks from the San Francisco Giants baseball park. In addition to eight rotating taps of multiple award-winning hand-crafted house beers, the pub has been voted “Best Brewpub”, “Best Burger” and “Best Happy Hour” by the San Francisco press.

Firestone Walker Brewing Company began in 1996, at a small, private facility on a corner of the Firestone Vineyard estate in Santa Barbara County. In 2002 owners Adam Firestone and David Walker purchased SLO Brewing Company located in Paso Robles, CA. The original SLO Brew, built in 1998, featured seven 200-barrel JV Northwest unitanks and a 200 barrel JV Northwest bright beer tank. We have since added to the original brewery, now featuring 17 interior fermenters, four 500bbl exterior fermenters, a KHS keg line and Krones bottling line among other improvements
