Appearance: Pale amber: good natural colour. This has been drawn from a re-fill ex-sherry butt. Fine beading and slow legs suggest it will have some texture.
Aroma: Light nose prickle and quite closed to start with. Moist Jamaican ginger cake, with a woody, old tawny port note, and then some waxed paper (possibly waxy orange peel, very faint). The addition of water brings up hot sand, and dry wood. Later a trace of matchboxes and a hint of cigarette tobacco, then sour fruits (dry cider).
Taste: Tasted straight, the texture is smooth, even oily, rich and sweet, with a sour note in the finish. Pleasant and warming, with medium length finish. Even more smooth and sweet with water, followed by an attractive sour taste, with brown, spicy apples: Chewits Extra Sour sweets (artificial apple taste), dry cider.
Comment: Lots going on, but not obvious. A good example of Glenrothes, with an attractive balance of sweet and sour. The cask has not covered the spirit’s original character

Information: Deras passion för Single Malt Whisky var deras drivkraft när dom skapade Malts of Scotland. Att få möta personerna vid destillerierna och glädjen att upptäcka nya goda varianter av whisky.
Det var efter ett antal år av provande som man 2009 bestämde sig för att släppa sin första omgång med 11 olika Single Cask Whisky under eget namn.
Deras motto är "special bottlings for special moments”. För att vara säkra på att hålla en hög standard så är dom noga med detaljerna som bland annat nogrannt fatval och speciell förpackning.
Man har idag samlat på sig många fat som i framtiden kommer att buteljeras och vi kan alla se fram emot kommande buteljeringar från dessa whiskyälskare som är stationerade i Tyskland.
