Crafted with a clever combination of traditional vinification and modern winemaking techniques, Cloudy Bay Chardonnay is an intriguing and textural wine. Packed full of citrus and stone-fruit flavours, the fruit purity is enhanced by an attractive nuttiness and subtle oak influence.
TASTING AND FOOD PAIRING
* Colour: Pale gold
* Aroma: Poached pear and grapefruit aromas are complemented by a nuttiness reminiscent of roasted cashews and oatmeal.
* Palate: A rich, textural palate with vibrant citrus and fig flavours, seamlessly integrated oak, and a persistent finish.
* Subtle oak doesn’t overpower delicate flavours. Salmon, pan-fried or baked with crispy skin.
VINEYARDS
Predominantly the low-yielding Mendoza clone, planted on free-draining and nutrient-rich soils across the Wairau Valley. Yields are very low and all fruit is hand-picked.
VINIFICATION
Predominantly fermented in French oak barriques with indigenous yeast. Full malolactic fermentation, extended maturation on yeast lees, minimal new oak.
